As I have studied the Word in the last few weeks, I have had to ask myself, “Where is your passion?”  Where is my desire?  What is it that makes me go?

It might be easy for me to say that it lies within my ministry.  Of course I should say that, I am a pastor and that is the right thing to say.  But is that my true feeling?  It could be with my accomplishments, and the things that I have done through all of my own ability.  The skills I am gaining in repairing business problems, damaged property, or even some relational problems.  I could brag and pat myself on the back.  But that is not what I need or want to do.

My satisfaction could come from all of those things, but it doesn’t.  It won’t do me any good, it won’t bring me satisfaction.  What I have found is the mission of Paul.  In Philippians 1, Paul talks to the people of Philippi and shares with them his excitement for the furtherance of the Gospel.  He is thrilled that there are so many people sharing the Gospel and more and more people hearing the message of God.

Paul was so encouraged by the spreading of the Gospel that he seemed to forget about the chains that he was living with.  He was in prison for preaching the Gospel and yet he celebrated the Gospel.  What a thought.  In the midst of his suffering, he found joy he was facing.  More than that he found the passion to continue to preach and share the Gospel with those in the enterage of the emperor.  He couldn’t help but share the Gospel.  He couldn’t stop sharing the Word of God.

His mission and passion for life, was to share the story of Jesus Christ.  He couldn’t live without sharing the Gospel.  Paul had given his life fully to God and dedicated his sharing His story.  No matter what was happening, he found joy in the fact that he could share the Gospel.

As I have meditated on the Word, and prayed about my calling, I have asked myself if my passion is like Paul?  I see that my ministry is going well, because of the work that God is doing.  But what could happen, if I had the same passion and mission for my life as Paul did?

I believe that Paul’s passion was to know more of God and get the message to everyone in the world, no matter what the cost.  With that mission, look what God was able to do.  Millions of lives were changed.  Could God use me like that?

Absolutely!  God can do anything He wants to.  If I am willing to make my life’s mission to know God more and share the message with everyone in the world, no matter what the cost, what could happen?

As I study the Word, and focus my life on God, may He show me more of Him and allow me the opportunities to share His story.  May my mission be, to share the Gospel, no matter what the cost.

How about you?  Where is your passion?

Thank you for the words of encouragement. Exactly what I needed to hear today. A kick in the pants about passion and letting God use it for his glory.
