And God blessed the seventh day and made it holy, because on it he rested from all the work of creating that he had done. Genesis 2:3

TODAY, Thursday, February 4th feels like a holy day to me. Thursdays is when I take my Sabbath. When I think of a day of the week being holy, of course I think of Sunday, it is naturally, the Lord’s day. However, for me – Thursdays are holy.

I look forward to this day, because when I have planned life right, it is a time for me to enjoy resting with my family, spending time in God’s word, and usually doing something that is fun (i.e. reading, hiking, playing outside). There is something so refreshing about rest! Take the time to set aside your Sabbath to worship the Lord and rest!

Please let me encourage you to practice your holiness by taking a Sabbath this week. Sometimes it seems impossible to engage in such ‘frivolous’ behavior, but let me tell you friends, you will never regret it! Moreover, it is not something you need to feel guilty about – your family, your friends, and you yourself will like you better when you have taken time each week to rest in the Lord. If you need more encouragement check out the word of God in the New Testament:

“Therefore, since the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us be careful that none of you be found to have fallen short of it . . . . . There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore make every effort to enter that rest.” Hebrews 4:1, 9-11

So, friends, don’t fall short on rest and worship.
